REPERTOIRE

For the benefit both of those interested in male voice choirs generally, or on the history of this specific choir, the information below gives a flavour - with examples - of the types of music which the choir sang.

One of the songs, "The Perfect Male Voice Choir" -- which pokes fun at the rivalry between the various sections of the choir -- includes the words:
"We have a comprehensive repertoire; we sing every mood and style. We can be valiant fellows, upright and true, brave and thoroughly worthwhile. But then, at other times, we're not quite so pure - bandits, vagabonds and worse .  .  .". We couldn't have put it better ourselves!

The choir developed MIDI files for most of the items in its repertoire. When played on a suitable digital instrument with simulated human voices, and then recorded onto CDs, these provided a valuable rehearsal resource for its members. The MIDI files could also be used to 'play' the choir's digital piano at rehearsals on those rare occasions when the regular accompanist was unavailable.

In a typical year, the choir performed over 60 different titles, in a wide range of categories - or "genres". Typical examples  -- grouped by genre -- are listed below. NOTE: This is not an exhaustive list but, as stated above, gives a flavour of the types of music which the choir performed.
